About The Rag Company
The Rag Company started in a garage in Boise, Idaho in 1999, founded by Dale and Beverly Horn as a small operation supplying microfiber to hotels and hospitality customers. Jeff and Carolyn Hennen purchased the business in October 2012 and rebuilt it into the automotive-detailing brand it is today. The company now ships to more than 75 countries from a 50,000-square-foot facility in Boise, and in November 2025 it merged with Detail Factory, keeping fulfillment and distribution in Boise while product design and prototyping continue out of Detail Factory's Louisville, Kentucky facility.
In February 2026, the International Detailing Association named The Rag Company its 2026 Brand of the Year, an award announced at the IDA Awards Gala at Mobile Tech Expo in Orlando and voted on by IDA leaders, members, and the public. That professional recognition lines up with what we found testing their towels for RevRated: The Rag Company is one of the few microfiber brands that publishes its GSM and fiber-blend specs rather than hiding behind marketing terms like "ultra-plush," and that spec transparency is what earned three of its towels spots in our own microfiber towels coverage.
