About Collinite
Collinite Corporation was founded in 1936 by Charles H. Collins in Utica, New York, after he began experimenting with his own wax and cleaner formulas following a career selling automotive chemicals for Gabriel Snubber Distributors. Sold door to door during the Great Depression, the products were named after Collins's own surname. Nearly 90 years later, Collinite remains privately, family-owned and still manufactures every product in Utica, with distribution now reaching 65 countries.
The brand's signature product, No. 845 Insulator Wax, was originally developed for the electrical utility industry to protect porcelain power-line insulators from weather -- the same carnauba-and-polymer chemistry that gave it its name carried over almost unchanged into automotive and marine use.
